Brett B. Rowe is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is an Associate with the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America©, in the Texas Super Lawyers list by Thomson Reuters, and in S.A. Scene’s Best Lawyers list. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (1985). He was a magna cum laude graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law (1991) where he was also a Senior Associate editor of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. He is a prolific lecturer on the defense of medical malpractice cases, general insurance matters, and medical board issues.
Brett is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts, in the United States District Court (federal court) for the Western District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. For over 25 years, Brett has developed a proven track record for defending health care providers in medical malpractice litigation across the state. In addition, his practice includes insurance defense and personal injury litigation. Brett also advises hospitals on peer review matters and has assisted numerous health care providers in successfully navigating administrative proceedings by their licensing boards.
Brett is an avid trumpet player for various churches and plays in San Antonio’s Band of Lawyers, The Court Jesters. He is married and has two grown children.

Blaine A. Holbrook graduated from Texas A&M University-College Station in 1994 and the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1998. While attending OU, he was the Technical Editor of the American Indian Law Review and the recipient of the George J. Fagin Municipal Law Scholarship. He was an elected representative of his law school class. He also served as the Tenth Circuit Lieutenant Governor of Public Interest for the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division.
Blaine is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and in the United States District Courts (federal courts) for the Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas. For the last 20 years, he has devoted his practice to professional liability defense, commercial litigation, premises liability defense, and related civil litigation matters. Blaine also assists health care providers with compliance with state and federal laws, peer review matters, and disciplinary actions before licensing boards. Additionally, he has been a guest lecturer at UT Health – San Antonio on numerous occasions. He also frequently provides accredited CME regarding medical-legal issues throughout Texas. He has been named to the Texas Rising Stars list by Thomson Reuters and in S.A. Scene’s Best Lawyers list.
Blaine and his wife, Kathryn, have two children.

Matthew M. "Matt" Edwards is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio and the University of Texas School of Law (1998). He practiced law in Arizona for several years before being admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2001 and moving to Texas in 2002. In 2013, he was named in S.A. Scene’s Best Lawyers list. He is a frequent lecturer on medical malpractice prevention.
Matt is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts and in the United States District Court (federal court) for the Western District of Texas. Since 2003, the near entirety of his litigation practice has been in the defense of physicians, hospitals, health care practitioners, and other professionals who have been the targets of professional negligence lawsuits. His practice also includes appellate law, premises liability, legal malpractice, and commercial disputes. Matt also represents health care providers in administrative board hearings.
Matt is married with three children.

A native of small-town Texas, Nicki K. Elgie received her B.A. from St. Mary's University, graduating from the Honors Program magna cum laude. She then obtained her J.D., cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she was an issue editor on I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society. On law review, she was the recipient of the Outstanding Masthead Editor award and published an article surveying state privacy laws. While in law school, she also had the honor of serving as an extern to the Ohio Supreme Court. Nicki returned to Texas in 2009 and has been practicing with Evans, Rowe & Holbrook, P.C. since her return.
Nicki is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts, in the United States District Courts (federal courts) for the Western, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She specializes in medical malpractice, insurance defense, and personal injury litigation; appellate law; and health care contractual disputes. She has also successfully represented physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in disciplinary actions before their respective boards and regularly assists healthcare providers in relation to perspective employment agreements. Additionally, Nicki advises healthcare clients on state and federal privacy and confidentiality compliance, protection of committee privileges, peer review matters, and other state and federal laws affecting the health care industry.
Nicki and her husband, Chris, are passionate fans of The Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoy playing sports of all types. Nicki also enjoys devoting her time to local charities and volunteer programs. |
